Happy Monday! Time to get moving and face our to-do lists for the week. Some of my friends from high school are already making their way back to their respective college campuses in the next several days, and I can hardly believe it! It's kind of a bummer that my school is on quarters, while almost everyone else is on semesters. This means I'm on summer break June through September, while the majority of my friends have been off since early May and they're already starting to leave again. I feel like I didn't get to spend as much time with everyone as I'd have liked to this summer, but it's nice knowing we can keep in touch through Facebook, Skype, etc.

Something about last school year I wish I could change is making more of an effort to stay in contact with my old friends. That's one tip I'd offer to incoming freshmen this fall. It's tough to strike a balance between old and new when heading of to college, but do try. Trust me. You don't want to be like me and when you go home for Thanksgiving break and hang out with your high school friends you feel like everything has changed and you're sad because you think your old friends don't like you anymore and you'll find yourself crying in your car at the McDonald's parking lot. Yeah... you don't want that. But don't worry about me. Everything was resolved and I think I was just hormonal at that time more than anything else. I put the blame on the lady business!
So did everyone have a wonderful weekend? I spent my Friday night with my boyfriend. We had a classic date night: dinner, shopping, and a movie. We hadn't seen each other a whole lot this past week because he's a crazy man and works all the time, so I was very happy to spend that evening together. After eating at my favorite restaurant, we stopped in Anthropologie (looove that place!) and I picked up a pretty lil' cereal bowl on sale for $4. Can't wait to use this for my morning oatmeal!
Can we talk for a moment about how my boyfriend is SOOOO sweet? He suffered through took me to the movie Charlie St. Cloud because I've really been wanting to see it. I thought it might be kinda awkward for him, going with me to see a film starring my other boyfriend, but no worries, it was drama free. Unfortunately, the movie didn't live up to my expectations :( It just wasn't that good. I should have trusted Rotten Tomatoes. My (real) boyfriend's theory is that the more shots of Zac's abs there are, the worse the movie will be.

Saturday was a super lazy day. I had no plans, nothing to do, so I set out in search of a craft project to complete. I love crafting! It's great way to be productive on a boring weekend afternoon. While rummaging through my house, I found a four-picture frame I received as a high school graduation gift, and I decided to make my version of this DIY dry-erase board. My frame was being extremely obstinate, however, and while trying to finagle the backboard out of the top left frame, the glass broke :( Zut alors.

| oh la la! |
So I decided to make an earrings rack instead! I figured that would be more useful than a dry erase board anyway. My earrings had been residing in this ugly black plastic thing (the kind with a hook you can hang in a closet) but I thought, why not display them in a prettier way? I cut various colored sheets of tagboard to 4x6" to fit the frames, and stretched a pair of lacy pantyhose over each rectangle before pushing them back into their places. SO EASY!

| the back. it is super fug, but shhhhhh, no one else has to know! |
The cool thing is that I didn't even have to cut the pantyhose, so technically they could be removed and worn again if I ever felt so inclined. (However, not likely. I wore them with my Halloween costume last year and ummmmm let's just say that's a night I would rather forget about. Oh college.)
I wore these to senior prom :) They remind me of an ocean.
I paid a visit to the Whole Foods salad bar for dinner. Lots of good stuff in there--Cajun tofu, curried sweet potatoes, cirtus Kamut, chickpea salad, Greek Salad, spicy bok choy, hearts of palm. It rang in at just over $10. Which actually is very good for me, for I have been known to create $15 monstrosities at WF. It's a seriously dangerous place for vegetarians! I also picked up two pints of Purely Decadent coconut milk ice cream--pomegranate chip and mocha almond fudge. So addicted to these. Go to their website and get a coupon for $1 off! You need this ice cream in your life and I'm not even kidding around here!

On Sunday, I had a work meeting, hit the gym, then got called back in to work. My job is at a retail store and it was really super busy, even for a weekend. I spent basically the entire time recovering and re-recovering the sale rack :( But after work I got to hang out with my high school friends for one final time, our last huzzah for summer 2010.

I still have a month of summer myself, but as I've mentioned before, I'm already feeling anxious about getting back to school. This week I'll begin my packing list and pick up a couple dorm room things from Target. (Favorite store ever!)
