Tuesday Morning on a Monday Afternoon

Well, well. Look what just showed up on my doorstep! I mean literally just showed up. I sat down at my kitchen table with a Chipotle burrito bowl, ready to write a post maybe 5 minutes ago, and the second my butt hit the chair seat I heard the doorbell ring.

It's a Cuisinart mini food processor! (For dorm room banana soft serve-making purposes...obvi. Although I'm sure I'll find other uses for it!) Would you believe I only ordered it online yesterday afternoon AND I got free shipping? Yep! :) If you're a college student, get thee to Amazon.com right now and sign up for a free year of Amazon Prime with your university email address. You'll get free shipping and other benefits. The food processor itself only cost $30 and the reviews looked decent so I went for it. Seriously though... someone freeze my debit card in a block of ice already, please?? I need to stop spending all my money! Add online shopping into the mix and you know I'm headed for trouble!

Speaking of shopping, that's exactly what I decided to do yesterday when I was trying to figure out how to spend my time before going to work. No worries though, I only went to Tuesday Morning in search of some nice drinking glasses to take with me to school. (I got some cheapy plastic ones last year and they ended up serving as toothbrush and eating utensil holders.) Ever shopped at this store? They have a pretty random selection of discounted home goods and I always find interesting stuff. Me and my best friend used to ride our bikes there in middle school to look at the Barbies and their accessories.... yeah I said middle school. Both of us were denied the luxury of having the Barbie dream house and the pink convertible as little girls and I guess that's something we just never got over. I always wanted one of those my-size Barbies too.... ahh, I was so deprived in my childhood.

Anyway--I did find the drinking glasses I wanted, but of course I never leave with only the items I went in for. I also found an awesome zebra print water bottle with my initial on it, plus a set of makeup bags--something I actually had been actively looking for, as of late.

Love 'em! Cute right?

This morning I worked, 8:30-1, which was nice because I didn't have to deal with customers the whole time. Ahahaha, I'm awful. Although when the store did open at 10, it was pretty darn slow the entire time. I think I prefer working in the morning because I'm not entirely awake yet, and by the time I start checking my watch to see how many more hours until I'm off, my shift's already halfway done.

This afternoon I'm visiting with a high school friend--actually, a friend since 4th grade!--who was studying in China this summer and will be going back to Dartmouth pretty soon. Yep, she's a smarty. So excited to see her though, and I'm really happy that I'm still in town and we'll have a chance to hang out. Tonight I believe my mom is making dinner for the family (something from Veganomicon, best cookbook everrrr) and later on I'm going to finish watching Invictus with my man (we started it while he was helping me pack the other night).

What are you up to today? Any collegiate people who are back in classes, how's it going so far? I'm trying to savor my last few days of being homework-free, because I'm certain that when I start school next Wednesday, studying will quickly resume its place in my daily routine.

  1. Is that popcorn in the processor?! That's totally what it looks like. School for me is pretty insane right now. I thought I'd have a breeze of a semester...but maybe not so much. The beginning is always hectic though. Enjoy packing! ;)

  2. What, you mean you've never snacked on popcorn puree before? Haha just kidding. But it seriously does look like popcorn in that picture! Upon closer inspection however I think it's actually chopped almonds or something.

  6. I had a choice of getting that same food processor or a magic bullet for my dorm. I went with the bullet. But then again my dorm room was really small. So I needed something compact.

And just out of curiosity, I never caught where you work?

And by the way, I can't wait to hear about your classes when you get back to school! :) The only real RD course I'm taking is intro to nutrition. What are you taking?
