Bookish Blonde

My friends. I have an obsession and it's called The Hunger Games. I had a tough time tearing myself away from it's pages even for just a few moments to write this post.

I think I'm a little late on the bandwagon with this one, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying it immensely! I've been hearing talk about these books for a while, but never sought it out for myself. A few nights ago, I mentioned the title to a coworker, however, and she replied that she had the book upstairs and she'd go get it for me and I just had to read it! That was Sunday night, and since, I've been flying through it, reading pages here and there, any chance I get.

I used to be a major reader. I read ALL. THE. TIME. I was that girl who carried a book with her everywhere, reading between classes, on the school bus, etc. Admittedly.... we're talking middle school here, and the vast majority of what I was reading were teen romance/comedy novels. (Georgia Nicholson, anyone? 1-800-Where Are U? or The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot?)

Lest you think I wasn't really reading anything worthwhile, I swear I did read some stuff of substance too. I had a Lord of the Rings phase during which I read all the books numerous times and I even did a project on The Hobbit in the eighth grade. LOTR ♥

But as the years went on, my free time for pleasure reading grew to be smaller and smaller, and to be honest, I can't even recall when I last read a book of fiction just for the heck of it. The Time Traveler's Wife, maybe? That was definitely more than a year ago.

This is a good time to read, since the quarter just started and I'm not swamped in work yet, but there are two more books in this series, and you better believe I will be trying to get my hands on them! I forgot how much fun it is to read and lose yourself in the world of a good book like this.

Have you read The Hunger Games yet? I feel like I'm the last person on the planet to delve into it, but I'm glad I did. It's a little bit sci-fi, but I happen to be into that sorta thing. Even if that's not really your deal, check it out anyway! You won't be disappointed.
